ChatterBox - New Location Features

Enable Location Publishing to View Device Locations from Anywhere

A new location publishing feature has just been added to the latest version of ChatterBox firmware.

[for experimental use]

Enable WiFi and location publishing on one device in your cluster, and that device will begin to feed location data from all location-sharing devices in your cluster to a service hosted at Altware.

Anyone in your cluster can then scan a QR code on their T-Deck or Pager to view a live map (on their phone) showing cluster-wide device locations and movement.

Bookmark that link in your phone’s browser, and you don’t even need a T-Deck to check locations any time!

This feature does require a pro license, as it uses bandwidth which I have to pay for.

Note that location data shared with this feature should not be considered private. That is why this is currently an experimental feature. Better security will be added to this feature shortly. Any time, you can disable this feature and delete any stored data quite easily.

Tracking Mode is another new feature, which causes a device to broadcast its encrypted location 2-3 times per minute, for more up-to-the-minute location sharing. You can use tracking mode with or without location publishing.
