Distance Testing: Remotely Tracking Location using ChatterBox

I did some Drone-based testing today

There will be more results and info coming on this topic, but I was targeting ~30 miles for receiving encrypted location pings via a hovering drone, and that was achieved today.

Today’s testing was done using a customized node mounted to a DJI drone, and 2 different base station setups, as shown below.

The drone node I used is exactly the same one shown here, except I reprinted the enclosure to make space for a small LoRa amp and extra battery.

The DJI drone shown here is the drone I used.

I don’t know what the limit is yet, I simply ran out of time today. For the next round of testing, I’ll start at 35 or so miles and go farther.
